Barry Abramson has devoted his professional life to improving the energy efficiency and environmental impact of buildings. As Principal of Servidyne, a consulting firm based in Atlanta, Georgia, he has provided energy and sustainability consulting services for 40 years. Barry’s current focus is developing decarbonization strategies for existing commercial building portfolios. He is past Chair of USGBC’s LEED Energy and Atmosphere Technical Advisory Group and serves on the ASHRAE committee that wrote the Standard for Commercial Building Energy Audits. He was Principal Investigator for an ASHRAE research project on HVAC equipment service life, with results published in the ASHRAE Handbook – HVAC Applications and cited as a primary source throughout the building industry. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Barry and his team at Servidyne helped clients assess their building systems to develop risk-mitigation strategies that contribute to the health and wellbeing of building occupants. Barry has delivered numerous webinars on HVAC and water system building readiness and energy efficiency, attended by several thousand real estate industry professionals. Barry graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Energy and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer, LEED AP O+M, and ASHRAE Building Energy Assessment Professional.
